Beth McLaughlin
Based in: Hunt, Texas
Board member since: 2022
Board position: Board Chair
McLaughlin grew up in a family food business and has never known a time when she didn’t have a “job.” Early in her career, she developed the international sales division for her family’s food business in Oklahoma. Throughout this time, she formed many relationships in Mexico and was encouraged to form her own Latin American food distribution company. McLaughlin successfully owned and operated Advance Food de Mexico, based in Mexico City, for 15 years.
From 2009-2019, McLaughlin was involved in revitalization efforts in Kerrville, Texas, specifically bringing businesses back to the historical downtown area of Kerrville. McLaughlin was an original partner in Schreiner Goods and SG Home and renovated buildings on Earl Garrett that now house thriving businesses and the Hill Country Community Foundation. One of her passions, connecting community thru art played out in her 12 year ownership of Slate Gray Gallery, formed in 2012 in Kerrville, TX with a second location opened in 2014 in Telluride, CO.
Currently, McLaughlin stays involved in the Kerrville community through her foundation, the McLaughlin Doty Foundation, formed in 2010. Over the last 14 years, the foundation has supported the local non-profits in the community in various ways as well as provided scholarships to Kerr County high school seniors. The foundation has 46-50 students receiving scholarships on an annual basis. McLaughlin was a part of the founding board, Arcadia Live, to renovate and bring life back the Arcadia Theater in Kerrville.
Recently, McLaughlin sold her Telluride small business, Slate Gray Gallery. This allows her to now spend more time in OKC where she serves as a director at Square Deal Capital (family office, based in OKC) and is she is the Chairperson of World Neighbors. McLaughlin also serves as the Chairperson for the AhhHaa School of the Arts in Telluride, Colorado.
In her free time, McLaughlin can be found enjoying the great outdoors, live music, traveling and family.
