Susan Hightower lives in the Austin, Texas area. After graduating from Austin College in Sherman, Texas, she earned a master’s degree in journalism with a minor in international communication from the University of Texas at Austin. Susan worked as a journalist for seven years, most of that time as a reporter and editor for The Associated Press, then earned a law degree from Stanford Law School and returned to Austin to practice, primarily in trademark litigation. She then served as a judge on the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office Trademark Trial and Appeal Board before her appointment as a United States Magistrate Judge serving in the Austin Division of the Western District of Texas.
