Volunteer
World Neighbors offers a limited number of short-term internships and volunteer opportunities at our headquarters located in Oklahoma City, Okla. and across the country. We currently do not offer internships and volunteer opportunities overseas, but we are working towards being able to offer internship opportunities in the near future. To learn more about the programs we offer, click on the links below. World Neighbors volunteers assist , volunteers provide administrative and technical support to our marketing and communications and resource development departments with data entry, donor mailings, corporate outreach mailings, event promotions, donor appreciation and much more. The majority of our volunteer opportunities are located in Oklahoma. Other events, such as Work of Women house party hosts, Work of Women bake sale organizer, Work of Women network founders and World Neighbors gift catalog promoters can be led by volunteers outside of Oklahoma, but with the assistance of self-directed event toolkits and support staff. We do not offer volunteer opportunities for non-native residents in our field offices in Asia, Africa or Latin America as it conflicts with our program approach of local people training each other to address their own problems and formulate their own solutions. Current Volunteer Opportunities Donor Services Support This position is responsible for maintaining and overseeing the organization’s electronic donor database, with key functions that include gift and personal information data entry, and gift receipting and donor acknowledgment processes (thank-you letters and tax receipts). Click here to read the full volunteer job description. The majority of our internship opportunities are located in our Oklahoma City headquarters and will work with staff located in that office. All internship opportunities are non-paid. Summer Internship Opportunities Resource Development Internship This position provides direct support to the Resource Development Team assisting with leadership gifts, annual giving and donor services. The position requires someone who is friendly, highly organized, exhibits a professional demeanor, a proven ability to multi-task and able to complete projects on time, communicating with other departments and constituencies. Research & Documentation Internship World Neighbors is seeking an intern to prepare case study documentation of World Neighbors program experiences in select themes/topics (i.e., rural health, local economic development, etc.) from select World Neighbors program areas from around the world. Marketing & Communications Internship This position provides direct support to the Marketing & Communications department with special events planning, writing, handling media outreach, corporate outreach, some administrative tasks and other duties as assigned. Web and Social Media Internship This position provides direct support to the Marketing & Communications department focusing on website management and social media outreach on sites including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Pinterest. IT Internship This internship position will work to improve the use and application of the World Neighbors global intranet to create an online inventory of global IT resources of all World Neighbors operating units.
